About us
We are Conor and Sarah, a husband and wife team, founders and distillers at Wolverton Gin, based in, you guessed it, Wolverton near Milton Keynes. Here's a little bit about us and our journey to producing our much loved, hand crafted, small batch gin.
SarahI have always been mildly obsessed with gin for as long as I can remember, working my way through many, many craft gins over the years! Having always had a keen interest in home brewing, I was also intrigued about the distilling process. I attended a distilling session at The Portobello Road Ginstitute, where I created my very first bespoke gin. At that time, I thought what an amazing job it would be to open a distillery and create gins that had all of my favourite flavour profiles, never thinking that one day it would become a reality!
Conor
I grew up a stones throw from the world famous Kilbeggan Whiskey distillery in Ireland and was also fascinated with the distilling process. Being able to walk around the distillery and see the beautiful copper stills at work really caught my imagination. After meeting Sarah I quickly realised her passion for all things gin. I soon found myself drinking more gin and less whiskey! I have worked in engineering for over 20 years, and always had a passion for creating, crafting and making things by hand.
About the Brand
The town of Wolverton was founded in 1838 by The London and Birmingham Railway Company to house its workforce and was originally known as Wolverton Station. As part of this booming rail industry, the magnificent Wolverton Viaduct was also constructed.
After moving to Wolverton we instantly felt a connection to the town and the sense of community. As Wolverton is the place where we created our first gin and opened our micro distillery, we wanted to tie the brand to this wonderful town. We really wanted to reflect the strong links to the railway history in our branding, so by incorporating the viaduct with the iconic bloomer steam train, along with elements of the Secret Garden, we feel we have created a strong brand that is easily identifiable with the town.
We have always been extremely passionate about supporting local and wanted to bring a lovingly hand crafted, locally distilled gin to the local community. It has been an incredible journey so far and it's only just the beGINning!
